This is a six part Biblical apologetic that I wrote on the topic of purgatory. I both authored and gave the lecture that you are listening to. The point is to demonstrate that purgatory is a concept that is found in the Bible, a biblical truth. The presentation is about 50 minutes total. I hope to some day expand this treatment into a book.
In Maccabees, an Old Testament book that you Protestants rejected to suit your disbelief in purgatory.
The Jews not only beleived it form Maccabees but also they have a feast day in their worship to this day called the Day of Atonement where they pray for the dead.

Jesus' sacrifice did do it! You are speaking of the cause/reason of our purification and salvation, I am speaking of the mode/method/logistical application of how that cause is carried out. Jesus does cleanse us from all of our sins via His blood sacrifice, but how is that applied to us? Repentence, confession, baptism, eucharist, penance, & purification. So what you say takes away from Christ's sacrifice is not that but merely the application of it to us. So yes, Jesus' sacrifice did do it all

Jesus "by Himself purged our sins..." Heb1:3
"...the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin" 1John1:7
"by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified" Heb10:14
What's left to purify? If Jesus' sacrifice couldn't do it, nothing will.

And purgatory is in no way a sin offering. It's purification before entrance into heaven, so that the souls of the just are made perfect (as I quote from Scripture in the lecture). None of this would be possible, none of this would happen if it were not for Christ's work on the cross. Yes, all sins past, present & future were paid for by Christ's sacrfice, hence why people can goto heaven & have resurection. However, that does not negate accountability & it requires purification of the imperfect

It did require the death of an animal. You are correct "For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins" Hebrews 10:4
But Jesus' sacrifice removes sin:
"By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." Heb10:10
"For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified." Heb10:14
"THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."Heb10:17

No, it was not. Blood expiates sin. It was to cover sin, not a penalty for sin. The penalty of sin was and is death and seperation from God. Old Testament penalties were temporal: plague, famine, domination by foreign powers, etc.

Do you understand that the penalty under the old covenant was a blood sacrifice?

You do not seem to be able to reconcile the entirety of Scripture in context. One passage does not make doctrine but the passage in context of all which has been written.

Yes the penalty was paid by Christ. But justice requires accountability. Whereas without Christ, our sins would condemn us to hell, with Christ heaven is now obtainable. However, Christ's perfect work on the cross exempts no one from the commandments & beatitudes but demands it. As failure before brought death, now through the cross & repentence life. But accountability was never forgone, for such is contrary to justice & God. I prove this quite well in my videos with Bible passages.
