Went to Nassau Helicopters for a demo ride in an R22. He was able to take the controls after a few minutes of instruction. Not easy. Fixed wing first...
Jonathan is earning his pilot's license:

Update: Private Pilot Licence (fixed wing)on May 5, 2008. Ta-Da!!!
R22 cost with instructor almost 300 dollars per hour. Someone said there are even 100 dollar lessons per hour . He'll a cessna 152 is almost 150 per hour with instructor. R22 is one of the cheapest helicopters you can rent . A jet ranger with instructor is 800 dollars an hour. I just dont 100 bucks an hour is real for any helicopters in my opinion.

atleast 16,000 USD to get just a private license with 30 hrs training. not worth it for fun

if you want to be a helo pilot, just do that. dont go and get your fixed wing before, will be a waste of money and you dont go under a lot of the same FARs. sounds pointless to me unless of course it would be for fun, then have at it.

I was put off by the "responsiveness"--the pilot's term, "touchiness" my term--of the R22. I'm debating if I should go fixed-wing first.
