My Big Fat Gypsy Vanner Baptism - Bishop Auckland

Best viewed In HD - About: Whilst filming some establishers at Auckland Castle for another project, I heard some horses approaching, and quickly spun the camera around once I realised that the horses were heading towards me & the arch, hence the skew whiff opening shot.

I soon began chatting to Kevin Denham & Jordan Campbell they told me that they were heading with the horses down the to the River Wear at Newton Cap, and that I could join them.

Kevin walks behind the exercise cart down Bridge Street, as he makes the long steep descent to the River Wear, this reduces the weight of the cart, and the force pushing the horse forward.

Both horses I understand are in the final stages of being broken-in. and this visit to the River Wear would be part of the breaking in process & also 'Carl's Baptism'. Kevin demonstrates his bare back riding skills as Carl is initiated.

Kevin - is a member of Bishop Auckland Amateur Boxing Club - B.A.A.B.C & apparently one of the best for his age in the region.

I was lucky once again, both Kevin & Jordan were naturals in front of the camera.

Notes: This film is the result of a total of 90 minutes spent with the lads, on Sunday 10th of April 2011. I shot 59 minutes of footage during that short time. With the first cut, I whittled the original footage down to about 18 minutes, then following several more cuts, this seven minute film is the end result.
