i3D — Head Tracking for iPhone: Glasses-Free 3D Display

Head-Coupled Perspective on Mobile Devices. We track the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display. Such spatially-aware mobile display enables to improve the possibilities of interaction.
It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera.
The demo with the targets has been inspired by the work of Johnny Lee ( http://youtu.be/Jd3-eiid-Uw ) with a Wii remote.

I actually downloaded it on my iPad 2. Its cool but its low quality for some reason...

I like the idea but a standard front facing camera is not enough to create a perfect and convincing track.

Hi guys! The app is on the App Store! It's called i3D and it's free. It "works" on the iPhone 4, the iPod touch 4G and the iPad 2.
Remember this is still work in progress so you may experience several issues. This was not supposed to be put on the App Store, it was just for in-lab experiments.
