Andrea Rossi says: "Yes It's a Breakthrough". E-Cat 1 MW Unit Test, October 28, 2011

Here is a brief excerpt from the approximate 1-hour results announcement and question and answer session held this evening in Bologna.

He points out that hot fusion has yet to acheive overunity at all (and doesn't expect to for at least another 5 million), despite billions spent in R&D. So getting 470 kilowatts of continuos power while in self-sustaining mode (no external input) is indeed a breakthrough.

Here's a transcription:

"Mister [Paolo] Soglia has asked me if I think that the test of today is a breakthrough. I think yes, because I think today we have seen enough. No more small five or ten kilowatt units, but now we have overcame the difficulties connected with the basic engineering to make something that.... You know, to go in self sustain mode and make 400 [actually 479] kilowatt hours per hour... To understand that this is a breakthrough... "

You can also think that hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent to try to have a COP [coefficient of performance] of 1.1 with nuclear fusion. Today we have made a theoretically endless COP making 470 kilowatt hour per hour of completely free energy, free of fuel. Yes, I think this is a breakthrough."

I have a PhD in chem eng and I have serious reservations about Mr. Rossi. However, I would love to see something like this to go commercial, but my gut tells me that the e-cat is a fraud.

Sorry I don't respond to insults and iirrational claims without evidence. I haven't watched "MTV" in probably 15 years.

Once you stop thinking in terms "groups" and races. You'd be surprised how more intelligent you become. The human brain naturally makes all sorts of associations. It's part of our basic survival mechanisms. However the same ability to catagorize and sterotype also makes people extremely ignorant when they cannot see beyond it.

Just because one scientist has an opinion is NOT fact. Rossi is now daily being shown to be the fraud he is and lets face it WAS a fraud also in the past.

Maybe he is seriously mentally ill and really believes in things he can not prove.

He also believes in conspirancy theories which is a strong sing of mental illness.

If this is fraud what are the legal implications for Andrea Rossi? He is very open, videos, websites etc. There is a huge amount of documentation. Thoughts?

@sarsanch13 An example of investment: North Stream pipeline was inaugurated on 8 November, the construction needed 16 months and the final cost 10B$ (the goal is supplying 26 million households with heat (Hot water is exactly what the e-cat is supposed to do)

Needless to say Russia wants his money back....

Same story with nuclear power plants, investments are about the same (7B€ for the new EPR)

@MrBilbo13 I do agree with you Mr Rossi is a very valiant man not mentioning the scientific community skepticism an jealousy I will like to emphasize the danger of dealing with special interest who have extended their financial tentacles all over the world not having our best interest in mind lets hope that he survives their onslaught!

@0rioni Dear Orioni, do not underestimate the willingness of States that have oil and gas ressources. Think about this: what is Russia without its gas and petrol : nothing.

Billion$ have been invested: States and Big Companies want their return on investment.

It is likely that there will be pressure against the deployment of LENR.

Rossi has courage, in front of him there is not only the hostility of the scientific community, but People who do not want to lose power and money too ....
