HL 2: The Seven Hour War movie trailer (Fake)

The idea here is a prequel film based on the war leading to the main events of Half Life 2, the global take over of the Earth by Combine alien forces: called The Seven Hour War because pathetically that's as long as the militaries of all nations lasted. Of course the human resistance lasted much longer then direct military action, and the rebels fight against their supposedly benevolent 'benefactors' turns out to be one of the reasons Gordon Freeman when he reawakens is able to go about his all important mission to destroy the Combine stranglehold of mankind.

The reason I didn't do a straight Half Life 2 trailer is because frankly I'd have to use game footage to get the look right, and that would be too obvious.

I'd imagine the film would begin with a montage of the total eradication of Earth's military, and then follow the exploits and trials of a group of revolutionaries as they struggle against the new regime, all the while encountering propaganda denying the original war, or even blaming it on xenophobic Earthlings. Their story may never be told they realize, their deaths unremarked upon since the new order won't allow it, but they come to the decision that the fight is worth their lives anyway, just to strike a blow for the freedom of their species. A lot of heavy issues could be investigated here, a lot of quirky characters introduced, and there of course would be a lot of white hot action scenes with underground freedom fighters versus the oppressive Combine in pitched fire fights with futuristic and conventional weaponry.

There's a brief mention of the battle between The Combine and Mankind taking only Seven Hours before Earth was defeated. Its a reference to the fight that took place years before Gordon Freeman woke up on the train at the beginning of the second game :)

I think it might be a reference to Battlefield Earth (the book and movie) in which the aliens claimed to have won over mankind in nine minutes XD

If they ever do make a movie based around Half-Life, I think it should be set during the 7HW.
