A few people have asked what type of setup we use for canal Predator fishing, so here are the rigs we use for most of our canal Predator work. The single hook is used if we are fishing head sections or small baits, but this is replaced with two size 10 trebles if using slightly larger baits or Lamprey sections. With a lot of work commitments early this year, fishing opportunities have been limited and fishing new and difficult waters on the occasions we were out only drew blanks so it was nice to get back on some familiar water!!

  • so to claryfy is the bait off bottom or is the weight on the bottom and the bait also right on the bottom ?

  • @jonathan123kungfu Ball lead just touching the deck with the trace along the bottom too!

  • obviously your plumming the depth and fishing from the rolling weight to the float, leaving the trace along the bottom right? sorry ive never really fished for pike or zander before and the lake i fish only allows for use of singles - so im soaking up as much info as possible :D

  • Spot on with that mate, the trace along the deck and the ball lead just touching bottom!

  • hi great video, can you tell me were i can get the kevlar line from,,,mike

  • We use Catlink Kevlar, available online from Simon Clarke at Catfish Pro. It is an expensive material, about £12 for 20 meters or so but it is well worth it!

  • @bencoley38 thanks for the advice :D

  • what canal do you fish on?

  • I always use a single hook when float fishing with LIVES/DEADS hooked through the top lip.

  • It's surprising actually, I have never lost a fish that I've hooked on a single hook when predator fishing!

  • interesting stuff that mate, learn something everyday :-)
