@LaplaceFourier The root of it was the society the lived in, and that is exactly what Dickens intended, you can't argue with that, because he in fact said that those were his intentions. If your born poor like Oliver's mother probably was, you were basically screwed. His mother was young, innocent, naïve. Aren't we all when we're young? I'm not justifying her choice, I'm just saying that you can't judge somebody from one mistake.
