On March 16, 2011 the Ruse Mayor Bozhidar Yotov and Deputy Culture Minister Dimitar Todorov opened March Music Days International Festival. The former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu has been present at the innaugural evening, as well as Neculai Ontanu, the sector 2 of Bucharest mayor and Giurgiu local administration officials .
The 51st edition of the most prominent Bulgarian international festival has been inaugurated with a concert by the numerous and valuable National Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by the maestro Emil Tabakov. The show included The piano concerto № 2 by Ludwig van Beethoven as soloist starring the famous German pianist Lars Vogt. Lars Vogt is a representative of the younger generation of concertists who manage to combine the spectacular technicality taken to perfection with a good relationship with the orchestra, with which he achieved a continuous dialogue during the interpretation of Beethoven's masterpiece. The enchanting evening continued with the Symphony № 5 by Gustav Mahler, a profound and very difficult opus to which the master Tabakov transferred a splendid charm, which called for the long ovations from the audience for the great performance the Bulgarian Radio Orchestra musicians
