Peter Roskam went to the House floor to urge members of Congress to cosponsor legislation he helped introduce that would provide resources to local governments in order to assist them in combating the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. While exhorting his colleagues, Congressman Roskam also described the threat posed by the Emerald Ash Borer to his district and others. The Emerald Ash Borer has killed more than 20 million trees throughout the Great Lakes region, and is now threatening the Chicagoland area, which has 20% of its tree-stock in ash trees.
