My first book review of The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman for our book club! Sorry this video is so long and mostly scatterbrained, it was originally 12 minutes long and I tried to cut it down as much as possible. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it and be a little more concise as the book club goes on!

If you were reading along with us let me know what you thought in the comments or as a video response!

The next book we are reading is the next book in the His Dark Materials series, The Subtle Knife. We'll have two weeks to read it and post our opinions on July 5th!

  • the anti-Narnia stuff becomes more prevalent in the later books (in a good way, not in an obvious, preachy way). The amber spyglass is amazing, it even explains evolution, heh

  • @closedmouth I've actually started to notice it's a lot more prevalent in the second book and I'm only about a third of the way through, I'll definitely talk about it more in the next videos!

  • Wait a sec. I just was thinking that we knew each other from 5, 6 years ago.. :O

  • @man1d2tran It has been a seriously long time! I often forget just how long I have been here.

  • This is one of my favorite book series. I'd want my daemon to be a lion or a honey badger because honey badger don't care, honey badger don't give a shit! But I'd probably get a house cat.

  • @VOC771 Hahahaha, honey badger. Awesome Comment.

  • My fantasy daemon would probably be some sort of wild cat or dog like a leopard or a wolf or something big and strong to protect me, because I'm kinda shy and quiet... But my daemon would probably be a bird of some sort, like maybe a humming bird because I'm a very skittish and nervy person and I hate being stuck in one place for too long

  • Wolves are actually pretty shy and reserved...well, unless they are rabid. So it sounds like you're on the right path.

  • Your incredibly georgous. Are you single?

  • hey! Honestly, I prefer non-fiction. I mean, I think everyone should read "The Selfish Gene" (for example!), especially if we're talking "atheist-related" subject-matter! It's *also* quite an "easy read," IMO, (depending on your definition of easy, lol!) :D

my "dæmon" would be a bonobo. haha.

    A fox? that's definitely you. :-P

  • You're ridiculously pretty. I don't believe you're 20(Or somewhere there) at all :O

  • @ColourMeAmy wow it's amazing.. you look just like ashley williams,..i guess a lot of people already told you that to haha

  • @oddsource No I didn't get one with 3g, just wifi, there's actually not even a 3g network where I am right now, haha. But I'm still loving the Nook! I read even more now!
