Here's my version of this hauntingly beautiful melody from Rick's White Rock Album (1977). I literally wore mine out playing it so much. It's probably my favorite Wakeman album (among all my other favorite Wakeman albums). The album is the original motion picture soundtrack of the Innsbruck Winter Olympics.

  • this is one of wakeman's best, and you played it so beautifully. it is amazing! what are your recording equipment?

  • Thank you.

I'm running a line from the aux out from my mixing board to a 5 year old (outdated) Sony DVD camcorder. The Sony has a tendancy to overcompress the signal, but I don't want to spend the money for aynthing else right now.

  • Wrong key!

  • Thanks for your comment.

All I can tell you is it's in the same key as the CD I played with as I was learning it.

    God Bless America!

  • Another great interpretation Chris. I don't yet have "White Rock" so now you've got me surfing youtube checking out the Wakeman/White Rock stuff. I might just have to pick that one up.

Anyway, man, you have a great ear! I'd love to be able to learn tunes that way. "Mary Had a Little Lamb", "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"...... maybe. Rick Wakeman compositions?....Not this week brother! :>)

Thanks for the great vids. You're an inspiration.

  • Thank you.

White Rick is available at Amazon, but it's very expensive. Last I checked, $59. It used to be listed around $600 (No Earthly Connection used to be that high too). Anything beyond $30 seems crazy to me. Even $30 is crazy. I may just get crazy one day and buy it, 'cause my vinyl LP is so thrashed, it would take too much filtering to convert to a MP3.

Anyway - thank you again for the compliments. I like your stuff alot too and look forward to new posts from you.

  • Nice job mate. Love it

  • This is a pretty interesting Composition and well performed - you make a good case for it.

  • absolutly great!!!!!

  • Absolutely brilliant - brought back some memories. Thanks

  • I would like to know more about the sound. I find this sound very interesting: a piano sound that has more overtones than any piano I've ever heard (acoustic or electronic), yet at the same time, it does not sound overly harsh (as would normally be expected), because it successfully blends in with the choir sound. Very interesting. Another poster said this is a "Roland G8". I just looked it up and it's thousands of dollars. Is there any cheaper way to get such a sound?

  • Cool!!! 5 rated for your performance

  • Superb! Beautiful! Bravo!
