4 main mistakes spring to mind in tonight's overall performance, which should hopefully be apparent from the videos, and also should be easily rectified.
a) Res/Tsne/TDM - dont stay close to Mumra.
Sometimes my gameplay is that of a slow moving sloth. I like to try and sneak on my opponents to hopefully out smart them and scan them for the benefit of the team. Running alongside me doesn't help. It's too noisey. If you wish to stay close to me, I would love the company. BUT, I need you to make as little noise as I do and follow me in the 'stealthy' approach if that's what I'm doing. You'll see a good example of this in one of the vids where Mikuru and I are like stealthy ninjas on the prowl. You can tell who is who because she's the good looking ninja xD
b) Stay close - but not too close!
When you are trying to watch your team mate's back. My advice is to try keep a "grenades-blast" distance away. This way you not only give them the right amount of protection. (ie. you both dont die in a single nade blast.) Furthermore, you also stay out of the way when someone is trying to retreat. The amount of times Ive gotten killed by someone blocking my 'exit' because they were too close and thought they were 'covering' me :(
c) Proper use of the codecs
2 instances of codec failure springs to mind. First, In a base match on FF where I had the destab and was constantly asking for a boost but nobody came. I could have destab'd them before they got us. Instead we lost because the teamwork wasn't there in time. Lots of people running around like headless chickens with no cohesive discipline.
The second instance was the worst case I've ever seen. On GG map, TDM, I scan someone and sop link with everyone and yet - even knowing where the enemy is - I still witness people walking into spawn camping traps.
d) Better Sportsmanship.
HWD/ESouls membership has never been about the skill. Im living proof of this in how I play. The point is trying to be 'good sportsman' within the game. Not responding to other people's taunts and insults. There were too many occasions where Mikuru had to tell HWDs members off for unnecessary swearing and general manners.
To those HWDs members this applies to - please keep this in check. Continual bad sportsmanship in victory or defeat can ultimately lead to being dismissed from the clan. It's not what we're about.
There were many many many more mistakes over the vids. But these four stand out the most for me.
I point these things out to help you and even myself too. It's the reason for recording in the first place. To repeat the 'good' and at the same time, 'fix' the bad. Watch the vids, and add constructive criticism. You are all better players than I, and I admit this. I just pray you find some benefit in my observations and opinions for the greater good of our clan.
I know it's easy to be judgemental with hindsight. But the first step to solving a problem/changing a bad habit is first admitting and identifying them.
Here are 8 videos of last night's Survival session with HWDs. Im rushing to get these up online so that the HWDs members involved can see the fatal mistakes in our teamwork and communication that were happening.
I am not one for telling people how to be in a 1vs1 situation. Im the last person for that. But, I do try to always keep the "bigger picture", the team win first and foremost. Remember, when the team wins, you win.
Thankfully, on reflection of tonight's performance, I'm happy to say it's not all doom and gloom. I think the flaws we see in our game are simple ones that should be able to be rectified.
I think more patience and thought needs to be put into the 'team' game. Especially for survival.
Im also noticing people not listening to instructions/tips via codec, and not paying attention to their maps in certain modes.
Other than this, there's a lot of good that's there and can be further built upon. Keep up the good work. Keep using the clan calendar and the forums to organise training events and play games together.
