Nice animal, on one hand i like to see them defending themselves so i can see how they do it, on the other i don't like it when you use animals that way because the stress can actually exaust or even kill them. Would be nice to collect these kind of docomentry somewhere so you'd only have to film them once only and once you have the video, noone has to show them off anymore.

No they are not in NY. This species comes from the American Southwest. It is native to CA, NV and AZ. This particular specimen came from the Coechella Valley.

Half of you need to relax. This animal was not harmed and was released back into his habitat. The video was made to record the natural history event of a Shovelnose Snake striking with an open mouth due to the often mentioned belief that these snakes strike with closed mouth in a bluff only.
