The Steam locomotive; Possibly the most amazing machine ever built by mankind. No other machine matches the exitement and awe when you look at trains like this one.
-
hmmm. that's strange. 3751's whistle sounds distinctly at&sf. like at&sf 3415.....

@DanielVolker That really Sucks!

Acctualy, 3751 does have an SP 6 chime. I talked to my Golden Gate Railroad Museum buddies and they said 3751's whistle is an SP 6 chime.

@ThomasRivette Negative, the SP and ATSF both used 6 chime whistles that sounded similar, but were distinctly different. This is a true SP-6 chime.

Typicaly, the SP engines that recieved air horns had "skyline" casting above their boilers, one of the most notable examples is the 4449, however, the Cab Forwards also got an airhorn.

@Kahless02 - A few of the Pacifics that worked the SF - SJ commutes got them. Not all of them. I have a photo of 2467 with an air horn placed between the number boards. Not sure how many got them though.

@danosf Are those Caltrain Coaches?

@360Nomad Those were the VRE cars that Caltrain leased for a short time, if I remember right. Not sure where they went after Caltrain.

Does her air horn work at all?

Don't think this one has one. 2467 has one hidden behind the boiler steps. Many of the engines got them (around the late 40's or early 50's) and they were placed on top of the smoke box between the number boards.
