  • 2 strikes from the start, you didn't want to see it, plus you'd already seen the Swedish ver. Alright then, many had. But to say it's pretty much a "shot for shot remake," wow. Not even close. The cinematography was Vastly superior in Fincher's, take the run up to the Vanger estate for example. And there were *SO MANY* differences throughout, the introduction to Lisbeth, how the 2 main characters met, the final scene, the main plot even got resolved on 2 different continents between the 2 films!

  • @7H353U5 Yes certainly there were variations in the 2 films, particularly in the interactions between the 2 main characters which we noted. The ending (with the granddaughter being in London instead of outback Australia!) we both have agreed we enjoyed far more than the Swedish version. Libby wanted to see the film as she stated, she's a big fan of Fincher, but we were reluctant to review a big hollywood blockbuster as our first film. We enjoyed the experience though in the end!

  • Beer?! In the theater?

  • @1235788888 The Dendy and Palace Cinemas let you take alcohol into the cinema. A glass of wine, beers etc. sold at their candy bar. It's bliss. :-)

  • Great first review! Love the setting in the background, relaxed and off the cuff. Excited to see the review of the 'The Skin I Live In' - will you still review it?

  • @saltmagazine2011 Thankyou. Unfortunately we probably won't be reviewing "The Skin I Live In", but stay tuned for our next review which will be on "Young Adult".

  • Loved this movie! Didn't expect to, but pleasantly surprised. Agree about Lisbeth's and Mikael's relationship, very unique, very sweet. Sending Rooney Mara big love and hopes she may win the Oscar - it's well deserved.

  • TRAAAAAAAAANCE!

  • @1235788888 That's exactly what I thought! Haha.

  • @Mathuri100 We know that's what they said, but unfortunately, in our opinion, that's not what we saw.

  • this movie wasn't a remake, it was their adaptation of the book. they tried to stay true to the book. they never set out to 'remake' the swedish version
