The BEST Aussie funk arrangement ever put together, still sounds great in 2010.

You just gotta love a good Peter Gabriel ripoff.

OK, this was a great track, but the tease of the D-Train 'Music' sample at 2:28 is a welcome reminder of the original 'New Groove' recorded by the Rockmelons around 1984 including samples by Bambaata/Brown, Pumpkin, Globe & Whiz Kid, etc. I heard it on independent radio back then.
If anyone has this original 'New Groove' (sound only of course), pleeeease upload to You Tube! This was awesome stuff way ahead of its time, like Public Enemy without the rap, yet funkier. You guys are the best!!!

They were absolutely brilliant I saw them at the palladium nightclub in Perth 1988
they sounded exactly like their album they had to kick us out at the end of the gig no one wanted to leave
Im listening to tales of the city album at the moment.
What happened to John Kenny? absolutely unreal voice

@CuteMonique This was shot in Redfern.
The video was filmed in Eveleigh Street Redfern, referred to as The Block, and on McDonaldtown Railway Station and environs. As the hot summer day wore on, the locals started to get a bit antsy. Mickey Robbins is holding a baby and dancing. Wendy Matthews is one of the backing singers. I am playing keyboards and skipping on the station. The GREAT John Kenny is lead singer.

@vinniesvideos - thanks for the comments and everything to do with The Rockmelons. John Kenny sings with true soul and I love the fact that production is so clean and spacious. The keyboard sounds are great too. This should be Australia's #1 original song not 'Eagle Rock'.
