Yes, it is a real shame. Saw this scene in 1988 as a 9yo on ABC and have never forgotten it. Unfortunately things have turned very PC and the punch in 0:37/ gratuitous (though light taken in context) violence in The Goodies would outrage far too many do-gooders.

After over 30 years, I can still sing the String song though I had forgotten these effects which would still count as pretty amazing today.

Strangled by ignorant management, the Goodies were arguably funnier and more consistent than Monty Python.
