It was a sanctioned pull, so I'm guessing that it wouldn't pass tech inspection without cables on around the engine.
Besides, they cable them in such a way that when they blow, the parts blow forward and not back in the driver's face.
It was a Super Stock, three charger set up, to answer your other question.

i was at hookstown when that happened the fireman thought they had the best seat in the house until pieces of motor block came flyin at them pretty pro stock down the drain though

I have no "hard feelings" for IH tractors. I just thought I might try to run a little Shuck & Jive! I hope the driver\spectators are all ok. It must do a hell of a job on the wallet! Looks like some serious stuff to me!
