I might actually delete this and try to recompress it... the quality is "crappier" than usual, and I have an idea about how to slightly improve it. But... I may not get around to it. :p

This video is sort of about how Xena and Callisto just keep going "round and round" until they can reach some sort of harmony. I'm looking at it from the perspective that Callisto, Livia and Eve, though not the same "person," are stages in the progression of the same "soul" -- tied to Xena at every stage. Xena created the "connection" when she killed Callisto's family, which was the event that led to "evil Callisto." Callisto herself comes back to haunt Xena, first as a human, then from the underworld, then as a goddess... until Xena finally kills her at the end of Season 3. This was supposed to have a finality to it and bring "peace" to Callisto's tormented soul... but she only went to hell instead, still hating Xena and seeking revenge. Finally after Xena saves Callisto in Fallen Angel, she regains her "good" self again and it looks like things are resolved at last. But then when she's reincarnated into Livia, it starts all over again... and it takes another "miracle" to save her again... until she settles into being Eve, marking the end of her dark progression.

I like it because the same things keep happening again and again... the same patterns... there's always a sense of déjà vu about it... it seems sort of symbolic of Xena's struggle with her own darkness, continually coming back to haunt her in different forms. I was trying to express in the video how it does just keep repeating itself... and I sort of changed Livia/Eve's revelation at the end to being about realizing how she just keeps going in circles... and that Xena already saved her, and she already found her family again... and she doesn't need to keep going in these same circles... but can let go of the darkness her soul was hanging onto and move on.

I liked the song in part because of the "hill" idea... at first I didn't think the song could work... It's on the hill under the tree that Xena reflects over the entire mess with her/Livia/Eve/Callisto and what it means... thinking she may have to kill her all over again. Also there's the part where Livia is climbing the hill overlooking the settlement where she's about to slaughter more people...

The other thing I added in was the boy who died at the beginning of "Callisto" the episode... as a sort of symbol... although he actually did die in the episode, I sort of turned it into he appears to be dead in the beginning of the video, but at the end it seems like he's still alive. As though what was wrong before has now been set right.

Ares in the video symbolizes war, and Livia's hatred... a form that brings her away from herself, whereas the form of angel Callisto brings her towards herself.

I could write an essay on this video... but I think I'll stop rambling.
