@Nickcool1996 "To each his own" is one of the most overused and annoying phrases.
I disagree with that notion simply because nobody really believes in it anyway, they only use that phrase so they can cover their ass. Look at all the message boards with comments about how people that don't like certain changes to a series should just leave.
Bottom line is, if you're the target audience, you get what you want, if not, fuck off. I just wish people would stop pretending.

QTE's are annoying since it's "press this or die/get fatally injured"
.
Cutscenes display story so you don't have to read. They tend to get annoying as well though, since most people want to play the game.
Square Enix is the company of RPGs, much like Atlus. Except, they're more action-oriented while starting out on traditional RPGs. Once something good is made, they'll just milk the same thing while adding smaller stuff. Agreeable here.
To each his own.

@Nickcool1996 Eh, I guess I replied to the wrong person. Still, in a way it relates.
People make fun of Nintendo for reusing the same games and the same characters all the time, and yet people defend Square Enix, Epic Games, Capcom, and so on without so much as a thought.
The PS2 had tons of generic crap, and yet it also had Shadow of the Colossus and ICO. Just because most people are emulating popular game design doesn't mean it's a good thing, especially QTEs and cutscenes.

What SNES game have I bashed? Never mentioned any SNES game in any of my posts...
Also, said TWEWY is typical of an Anime so don't know why you think I'm defending it.
And what is SoM? Secret of Mana? Never mentioned it.
Oh, and don't try to act like you're explaining like you have before and actually explain what you mean for a change please.

@Nickcool1996 So TWEWY gets a get out of jail free card and SoM doesn't?
Especially since the DS is arguably more powerful and there was plenty of time to work on it and they had a lot more to work with, and yet you don't seem to impressed with it, but you have no problem with bashing a SNES game that's almost 20 years old.
From what I've seen, TWEWY is one of the worst offenders when it comes to generic JRPG crap, so I think that's more than a little unfair.. But whatever.

Yeah, everything (story and gameplay) has been the same for awhile, sadly. Can't make anything revolutionary as everything's pretty much been done.
The only thing newish that comes to mind would be TWEWY as it uses all the parts of the DS (mic, touchscreen, directional, buttons, etc.), but the story is pretty typical of an Anime.
Well, that, stuff like Skyrim and that game you mentioned, but game genres themselves get prolonged and old after awhile.
Sure hope this isn't Chris' arm

I love the reference to Resident Evil 1 when jill pulls the gun out of the grate with a hand attached!
