In recent memory alone, referees and umpires of professional sports leagues in the United States have made some pretty bad calls in some important spots. What can be done to improve the officiating?

we need to find aliens who can slow down time. then we make them the refs and umps, so when a close play is happening they can slow it down to make the right call.

bro, referee at the varsity level for at least one season... it's not as easy as it looks. it's easy when you're sitting at home seeing it in super slow motion and having 7 looks at it.

Think of it this way, in 140 years of MLB history, there have been over 400,000 games, yes FOUR-HUNDRED-THOUSAND! And how many perfect games?.....21. Yeah.

Dude, the NHl is the worst. a guy named Sidney crosby has all the refs behind him, he barely gets called for anything. Most of the refs make ass calls, same with umps. i swear I'd be way more fair with calls.

heres my opinion...in baseball, there should only be one challenge per series, and if a call is questionable, throw the flag...if the call is upheld, then you lose the challenge for the rest of the series and any further arguements will result in ejection...if its overturned, you keep the flag until your next questionable call

being a referee is a tough job. they have to make split second decisions that are difficult and they're human. give them a break

people talk about baseball like it's some sacred religion. Why CAN'T you use a computer to officiate? It's a stupid boring sport to begin with, who cares if it slows down? All you fat asses can kick back and have another beer while they mull over a replay so that people don't get completely screwed over by stupid refs. I personally think all refs should have someone constantly looking over their shoulder with replay until they prove they aren't retarded.
