Columbia master 149911-4, rec. New York, 26 January 1930 ca.
4 unknown male singers with Ted Lewis (also voc) and his Orchestra.
This group is said to originate from the Dixie Jubilee Singers, a gospel choir that also recorded for Columbia. This might explain why another side they recorded with Lewis names them "Dixie Four". The total output of this formation is a meagre three discs - unless several records made by a "Dixie Four" in the early 1950s for the Gospel label are by the same group. I think this is very unlikely, but I never heard one of those discs.
Nice record, great cornet solo by Muggsy Spanier. Thanks for posting!
