@flyingchicken33 if you are sane person and you are faced with a nutcase or a professional fighter YOU WILL DIE a normal dude can't win against them. Your 2c shows how bad you understanding is towards martial arts. In martial arts you will see a lot of demonstrations to show concepts and not actual fighting because in actual fighting people get hurt and sometimes die. You can NEVER replicate the REAL situation in training. What training does is give you some awareness, skill and readiness.
this stuff will work against an untrained attacker that is one dimenisonal and is going to attack one step at a time. I know when I am sparring, things happen so quick that one moves always lead into anther and planning a defense or an attack rarely works, you just gotta flow with everything happening being both proactive and reactive
I just settled for a Staedtler permanent compact marker, I make use of it in the day and I know how to use it thanks to martial arts training to decent effect if I must, but I only use weapons if I'm faced with them, prefer a good old fist fight if I'm honest ;D
Make sure to carry business card or not book too. In some jurisdiction, asshole cop may have the power to declare it an offensive weapon and take it from you. Especially if it is a 'nice' one with a point.
Thanks – lots of great techniques here to pick from and practice. A pen, even a cheap plastic one, is one of many things can be a defense weapon of opportunity when caught off guard. G Bowes
when's the last time someone attacked anyone by grabbing their wrist? and why not just knee him in the nuts or just switch hands with the pen and stab him in the face with it?

This happen all the time. If you knew anything about self-defense or why violence is employed you would see that. Go back to your video games...
