  • In defense of science and technology, I have to disagree with the general sentiment of this news item and the comments feed. Whether it be quarries and mining, refining, pumping, blasting, drilling, extracting or transporting- vehicles, factories, computers, piping, containers and people sometimes go wrong! The modern world takes health and safety very seriously and we have far few accidents and deaths than in the past. And don't even get me started on the nonsense of ''calls to ban HF''. pfft.

  • @TheProf1988 I have unblocked you. Remember that these are peoples lives at stake in this video. Engage with integrity or I will get rid of you again.

  • pff.. being fined 300 000

  • Wow guy was stuttering like crazy to cover his lies lol

  • @milotickz this is largely dependant on concentration, if you reach a safety shower in a timely manner and dilute and receive follow up medical assessment, you may be fine, there are too many factors say this will happen everytime or you will die if you touch this product everytime. Many people experience what is called delayed onset/reaction where the HF acid is diluted with water and it contacts the skin, this masks the reaction and up to 24 hours later you ur skin is burning/corroding away

  • HF is extremely dangerous, even in very low concentrations, so a spill could effect places hundreds of miles away! They need sodium carbonate filters around the refinery in case of a release, so it all gets neutralized into something you could put in your toothpaste!

  • Too bad these hypocritical bureaucrats won't let them build any new refineries.

  • I work in an oil refinery as a process operator, and safety truly is the absolute number one priority at my facility. We have an HF unit there and it is NOT neglected. State of the art control room, instrumentation, and safety features. DONT be misled by the media.... listening their lies of neglect. It's simply NOT true, and the operators who run the units simply will not let their lives be put in jepoardy because of neglect. Remember... Operators live close by in the community too....

  • So once a single drop of hydrofluoric acid gets on your skin, it immediately melts through your skin until it attacks your bones?

  • "The modern world takes health and safety very seriously" el oh el ... what a JOKE.

Sure, they take health and safety 'very seriously'...only insofar as COVERING THEIR TRACKS goes, so they can avoid lawsuit. Pardon my abuse, here, people, but I find it particularly galling that a 22 year old has the brass-plated cojones to step up and defend some of the biggest villains in history. This kid is obviously a moron.

  • In point of FACT, Big Oil has engaged in some of the most brutal and rapacious environmental damage in the history of this entire planet. Granted, Mox News is sensationalist, to a great degree, but given the track-record these companies have for systematic dishonesty, I'm far more inclined to trust Mox than anyone in Big Oil. Period. Look at the Niger River Delta. Look at the incredible damage done to the environment in Ecuador. Then tell me again how 'trustworthy' these companies are...

  • TheProf1988 is a 22 year-old, popping off from the basis of a freshly-acquired education that is apparently utterly lacking in depth as far as matters of historical record are concerned. Corporations have raised obfuscation and legal gymnastics to the level of performance art, and are, by and large, utterly untrustworthy. BP has lied, Exxon has lied, Shell, Citgo and Chevron have lied, consistently and repeatedly, and yet this infantile shill insists we place our trust in the 'legal system.'

  • @TheProf1988 ...and, as we well know, anti-corporate sentiments are completely unfounded, are they not...?
