  • the # 1 component in fuel cleaner is kerosene......

  • @mkubiak67 Gasoline, kerosene, diesel, and fuel oil are all petroleum distillates, just different cuts. MSDSs are never exact on what is in a product. The amount of JetA varies with the product. STP uses JetA to carry the detergents in its products. As to ethanol, at low levels of ethanol more deposits are created than without ethanol at high levels there can be less deposits, but more corrosion. The source of the ethanol also plays a part in the amount of deposits that are created..

  • 5000 miles brand new and it's dirty like that ?

Those things ran a way too rich and sucked tons of blowby.

  • @michaelovitch These are honda generator engines. The deposits are extreme, but not caused by running rich or blow by. The fuel used was on the lower quality end of what is available at gas stations.

  • @jcableman that would be good enough to explain it. I always fill up at Costco. They have some of the best and cheapest gas in the market. And uses more detergents than shell and chevron.

  • @jcableman

    Ok thanks.

  • @TheRealestEver The SAE test data doesn't agree with you. STP, Gumout, Valvoline, Chevron all make good products with chemistry that works. Sea Foam and Lucas UpperCylinder... do not. Also, Sea Foam doesn't make an octane booster.

  • @jcableman after i read the comment about SeaFoam 'leaving deposits', i nearly fell out of my chair from laughing.. There's a reason autozone and wal-mart sell STP octane boosters for $2 each and SeaFoam and Lucas treatments for $12.

SeaFoam actually removes the deposits. STP on the other hand doesn't do a thing.

  • @jcableman That is what kerosene is a "petroleum distillates” Petroleum distillates are just another fancy word for “fuel oil” I have read the MSDS on STP fuel and the fist thing is Kerosene.

And what is up with the STP Ethanol stuff? “Cleans away Ethanol deposits? I just put a container of Ethanol and the only residue left behind was from the 10% gas,

Comparing by volume I evaporated the same amount of gas per the same volume of E85 weaving the beakers left me with the same residue.

  • @mkubiak67 Not in STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner. The actives in the cleaners that actually work are PIBs or PEAs. Some have kerosene or other petroleum distillates as carriers for the detergents. Some don't have detergents and don't do anything.

  • @cumminsho13 Yeah, okay. With no evidence of any pictures or a video. Of this miraculous Jap engine being torn down.
