After his sudden death, Michael Jackson was honored at the BET Awards over the weekend.
Jackson's sister and father, Janet and Joe, were at the ceremony to pay tribute to the late King of Pop.

"I wish the world had recognized him when he was living. Right now, he's bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this," Joe Jackson said on the red carpet for the event.
At the end of the show, Janet stepped out on the stage to honor her brother.
"My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family. He will forever live in all of our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much," Janet said tearfully.

Jamie Foxx, who hosted the event, came out wearing a Michael-inspired red leather jacket, and even try to dance like Jackson.
"No need to be sad. We want to celebrate this black man. We gonna go through all of Michael Jackson," Foxx said.
Others also spoke of Jackson in their speeches at the podium. Beyonce dedicated her award to the 'Billie Jean' singer, calling him her "teacher and hero."
"The Jacksons had a profound effect on my family. If it wasn't for the Jacksons there would be no Wayans. Thank you," Marlon Wayans said while he was presenting an award with Jeremy Piven.
Piven joked, "If it wasn't for Michael Jackson, people like Justin Timberlake would probably be selling curly fries in the [San Fernando] Valley."
Best athlete winner LeBron James added his condolences. "My heart and prayers go out to the whole Jackson family. What they did for us ... was amazing."

  • Wow great response!

  • What!!!!! That was Bobby Brown up there with New Edition? Damn I thought it was Johnny Gil...!

You are correct boo; there is no comparison in MJ or Elvis. It really was a down play for both artists. They have their own seperate talents and both delivered them in their own ways. Racists if you ask me... Just keeping it real.

  • u guys made some very valid points. Elvis Presley was worldwide and MJ was UNIVERSAL

  • Hey there guys!!

that was a really beautiful video, I Feel the EXACT same way!! I was like Man!! Its so depressing how its flooded everywhere!! It was real well done and I was crying and crying when i heard Janet!! :( Its so horrible!!

And Nahh I think its stupid comparing the two, obviously Michael Is 101 X better.. (my opinion)

    but seriously well done. :)

    R.I.P Michael J Jackson!!

    Love you for ever!!

    peace and onelove

  • The fact of the matter is that Elvis only has a legecy is people remember him. I'm 17 and I don't give a damn about Elvis. True he was talented and cute but if you ask the average child who Elvis is they will have no idea. MJ was way more famous then Elvis and his music (old and new) even today it is just easier to listen to and connect to.

  • Why do they have to compare? While he was living there was the comparison of MJ to Prince. Now in his death he's compared to Elvis. There is no comparison.

How many women can say MJ was their 1st boyfriend? Honestly, Jermaine was mine but that family made a impact and Mike continued to THRILL us!! But most black women ages from 40 -55 (maybe) had one of these men up on their wall.

    Neo was very respectful!!

Big ups to NEO for bringing it!!! He was professional!! Unlike Bobby Brown...UGH!
