@bathwaterfilms You can't always tell by looking at them and there is no way to test them with a meter either because they operate on gases. Some people get lucky and see them shattered inside, but for the 90% of everyone else, the only real way to know if the lamp is bad or not is unfortunately to replace it with another Philips lamp. There are also a few DLP TVs that have LED lamp lights or blinking codes that may help establish a bad lamp, but even those can be wrong too.

how can you tell if bulb is burnt,,my tv is off,,3 blinking lights,,does not come on but tries to,,i took out bilb box and lookked at bulb,,it looks clean and new,,no burnt bulb,,so how do you tell????or do you just change it without even knowing that is problem>>>dumb dumb dumb
