July 4, 1986 President Ronald Reagan accompanied by wife Nancy gives a brief speech while aboard the USS John F. Kennedy. His speech reflects the dream of freedom and hope symbolized in the Statue of Liberty. President Reagan ended by saying Now lets have some fun. Let the celebration begin. At that moment, the worlds greatest fireworks display to date began in New York Harbor.

  • I still grieve for this man's passing. I loved him so, and always will. Thank you for all you did for us, Mr. President!

  • I remember watching this as a kid. Thanks for posting. Very inspiring.

  • no one is listening...what the man is saying is ... that greatist threat to Freedom...is partizan politics getting in the way
