Intel C2D, E6850@3Ghz, HDD 7200rpm, nvidia 8800GTX, 4GB ram.

Ubuntu 10.04 boots a lot faster then Ubuntu 9.10.

(most due to HAL removal)

  • No kernel messages? Just a blinking cursor?

  • @clone4crwproductions Yes, they hide all messages, it's kinda more user-friendly :)

  • ~18 Seconds, Cool! With a SSD it would be maybe ... ~ 12 ;) ?

  • @xXEduBuntuXx Their goal was to make it under 10 seconds, and I believe that on SSD drives it will be achieved. I have a fast CPU on this desktop machine, and in NetBooks are usually much slower CPU-s, but even with it, SSD gives a lot of advantage in boot process. Maybe that UNR version will be further optimized to boot faster on NetBooks. Anyway, boot time overall is a great improovement over 9.10.
