It is established that people get happier if they do something for others. To take the other one more serious than yourself is a very noble an unselfish attitude.
Love, compassion and wisdom are of essential significance in Buddhism. Only through these it is possible to reach enlightenment. The so called "bodhisattva promise" is supportive on this way as a constant reminder and motivator. The development of the enlightened mind attitude which means the attitude to dedicate your own development for the benefit of others is supported through meditations and liberating actions (generosity, meaningful lifestyle, patience and joyful activity). If you repeat them again and again the result will be intuitive wisdom which you also need as a basis for beneficial actions for others.
