@PlainOldCalvin Nope. This is a stand-alone recorder. If you're wanting to work with a computer DAW, then you want to buy a USB interface instead.

can this be used as an interface to record diectly to a prgram like Cool Edit Pro or Pro Tools, etc.

i am not famaliar with with pro tools or cool edit pro. id imagine it could be used the other way around. pro tools to the tascam. the tascam can record up to 8 tracks 0r 8 seperate channels at infinite lengths. then aslo capable of burning the track or song to a cd.
