  • I love all of Trower's stuff, think how much better all of it would be if Jimmy had stayed with us, (not dissing any of the vocalist''s that Robin had but Jimmy was the best to go with the way Robin plays that thing)

  • Jimmy was just amazing in his vocal ability. This guy could have done anything. He amply demonstrates that here in this simple little tune. There are many great musicians but so few who can connect with the listener like Jimmy--it's like he had a direct link to the heart.

  • @Steve1945 very well put!!! like fine wine, and the other fine whiskey........ it's a matter of taste...

  • Paul Rodgers is a truly great vocalist and has gotten better and better. Hes had great material throughout his career and played with some of the best too. My only slight criticism of him is that, especially after Free, his singing and songs were a bit samey.

But Jimmy had everything. He sang a wider range of songs with a natural expression. Who would have thought that Birthday Boy and Bridge of Sighs were sung by the same person. To see him sing so effortlessly is a lifelong joy.

  • You are absolutely right, it is a tough one. I think Paul Rodgers had a voice with broader appeal, thus you could make a good argument in his favor. James Dewar's voice (especially his work with Trower) was darker, and earthier, and struck some primitive nerve in me - the same as Trower's guitar. Dewar was the "cult movie" to Rodger's "blockbuster", and I tend to prefer cult movies.

  • @Steve1945 Alright...Tough one.....I go back and forth between Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Dewar for #1 : ) Depends on the day : ) They both really drew me (especially live) with the power and soulful passion they possess. Dewar and Trower had the best chemistry. There will never be another like Jimmy D

  • Cool Song,,,Has that Elvis Touch in His Voice,,,Very Excellent,,,,,555 Stars....

  • Does anybody know who the musicians were on this recording - that's a sweet guitar solo.

  • People will argue this until doomsday, but he ranks no. 1 on my list of all-time rock singers, ahead of Paul Rodgers, and everyone else. I love this remake of the Buddy Holly tune, but I still have to agree with Coyote, just as Lennon and McCartney were great alone, they were better together. James Dewar's vocals were the foil to Robin Trower's guitar. As much as I love Robin's playing, it's just not the same without James.
