Nick: how you all doing? there's millions of you.
annie:shall we start on the left and move across.
Gav:im gavin.
annie:hi gavin.
the boys: im gareth. im matthew, how are you? im sean, im james.
nick: feel free to wave into our camera.
annie:everybody say hello to the blackout! here they are.
nick. and so not not many of our listeners may have heard of the blackout before. believe it or not.
[plays children of the night.]
annie:theres been a lot of love on texts and on twitter and on facebook.
nick: something about explaining nicknames.
annie:has anyone got any?
gareth: me.
annie:okay gareth. what's your nickname?
gareth:Snoz.
annie:and what's that about?
gareth:It's a long one. well when my father was young he used to play darts, and when he got nervous he used to play the piano. and apparently there was [something] called snoz
annie:awhh i quite like that!
gareth: and that was me, my two brothers, my nephew and my niece...all called snoz. If we're all playing football in the park(something lol)
one of the guys:ive known him for 10 years and i never knew that.
annie: so you all just call him snoz and it's a given.
The Blackout: yeah.
annie:okay so im going to call you snoz from now on.
gareth: wicked. thank you for that.
annie:...are you up for a kinda compare?[something]
gareth:I have brains.
James:my nickname is bob.It ha absolutely no relation to my name whatsoever, which is james.it's a very long story is its to do with the character silent bob because i never used to speak. and now you cant stop me speaking so now its just bob.
one of the the guys: it's stuck for about 11 years.
annie: so how was the transition, like, how did you go from being silent bob to like loud?
James:I stopped being a miserable goth (in school?)
annie: really? what did you look like? did you have the eyeliner and everything?
The Blackout: oh yeaah.(some sort of joke.)
annie: do that to the camera!..so you all went to school together then?
The Blackout: yes.
annie: okay. can you run through what everyone was like at school.obviously we have bob the miserable goth.
Sean:I was the class clown slash idiot.
Rhys: *was quiet*
Matthew: I was quite quiet too.
one of the guys: I had a mullet. I had curtains and a mullet best hair ever.
Gavin: I was just a geek.
one of the guys: Gavin will climb anything you put infront of him.
nick:was it at school you put the band together?
The Blackout: mumbles
Annie: what were you called back then?
The Blackout: 10 minute preview.
Annie: did you have an assembly? did you have to get together and sing hymns in the mornings and stuff?
one of the guys:rhys was in a band with one of the english teachers.
annie: what kinda of band was it? It was like a charity kinda thing.
Nick: how did you go from 10 minute preview to the blackout? explain that.
one of the guys:There were 5 of us apart from james were in the band and then we got james in and we thought we'd change the name and start all over again.
the guys: 10 minute preview was going nowhere. look at the blackout now!
Annie: lots of texts coming in..
Nick: Rob says hello. "the long haired blonde guy, you're fit."
Annie: there you go.
Nick:"I love the blackout. you sexy things."
It is basically just about being sexy.
The Blackout: they dont even go as far as the music.
Nick: "I love the blackout and i enjoy their music. what inspires your music and lyrics?"
one of the guys: (beer?)
annie: who writes or is it a team effort?
one if the guys: yeah we all write everything to be honest.
Annie: must be hard having 6 of you to deciding what to put next on the line.
one of the guys:It is basically like UFC where we get in a ring and fight it out until one of us wins.
Annie: shall we play your song?
