A 2006 Mazda Miata MX5 with a 2.3L swap. Enthuza Race Exhaust and 3" Mid-pipe.
Started my 2.3L Mazda MX5 turbo. Sounds pretty good, but it may be a little rich. Vid gets better nearer the end.

  • Wicked swap! I want one! :D

  • @Tiaan90 I think I liked the 2.0 better actually...

  • @TheMXGeorge hmm, how come? this got to pack some serious power though

  • @Tiaan90 It does pack power, but I'm not sure I like the power band or the fuel efficiency as much. The 2.0 was MUCH easier to get tuned right and makes more power up top due to the head and cams. The 2.3 also just feels lazier, because of the increased crank and rod mass. However, no question that the 2.3 makes more torque and sooner which makes spool with the GT2860rs instant. Either way you get tons of power, but the 2.0 is racier. Easier to blip and rev match, freer revving basically.

  • @TheMXGeorge ah, I understand, kinda.. And I bet that the torque is a bit overkill in that light car,

    is the 2.0 a N/A engine?

  • @Tiaan90 Nope the 2.0 had the same turbo system on it. When I toasted it at 165mph, I replaced the engine with a 2.3 out of a Mazda 5. Slapped the turbo kit and exhaust on it, and here I am. :) The 2.3 DISI turbo motor out of the Mazdaspeed 3 is a cool swap too. A little more work as the firewall has to be clearanced for the DISI pump, and the MS3 ecu must also be used. This poses a problem because the dash won't interface with the MS3's ecu.

  • Burnt oil at 2:05 ? :/

  • @TheMXGeorge ahh, I thought you had the DISI engine, and that the 2.0 is a N/A because the swedish engine choises suck, the only powerful mazda engine we got is the DISI :P

  • @MX5WesternAustralia Cheers mate! It's a very fast car, to be sure. Very. ~350 rwhp gets a 2400 lb car moving very easily. Tuning was a lot easier with the original 2.0, so if I were doing it again, I'd stick with the 2.0.

  • @supermanwithheat Used the BEGi one. His jig is a little off, however. It was a very tight fit over the studs.

  • What exhaust manifold did you use? Custom or the begi manifold from there kit?
