LonelyCatGames' SmartMovie Application handles .avi files without any prior conversion on S60 5th edition. Nice interface, great features, and most of all no stuttering and no lags.
Any help, then? I actually recently got my hands on Nokia XpressMusic 5530, and has like the smartmovie application while I use it. However, one time while was watching a video(Yes, the problem occurred while the video was running smoothly), the smartmovie application "crashed" and just exited the application. This happened over and over. I was not experiencing any problems at all towards other players but I personally prefer SmartMovie because it's the best amongst others I have tried before.
Hmmmm. I wouldn't call that "no stuttering and no lags." The movie isn't TOO bad, but certainly not running full speed. The episode of 2 1/2 men is HORRIBLE. I'd consider that unwatchable it's so laggy. How can you not see that?
This is the same version as for S60 v3, works like a charm on S60 v5. They made them touch friendly a long time ago. As you see in the video i made above, no lags.
We have put lots of effort into research in this area. Unfortunately without clear solution.
CPU's used in many S60 phones have hardware acceleration (DSP chip on OMAP 2420 processor), but this part of hardware is so encapsulated that it is practically unusable from 3rd party applications, and only phone manufacturer reserves the right to utilize the hardware.
That's shame for all - manufacturer, developer and users.

I don't know if it is because the phone you're using is a 5530 and mine is 5800, but it super lags on my phone.
I've downloaded the trial version and it is super slow even for small mp4 files.
Thanks,
Let me know.
