Aikido lecture by Peter Shapiro Sensei, Ki-no-Nagare Aikido Dojo, Berne Switzerland, www.kinonagare.com

05042009_part3

This video includes:

Quotations from O-Sensei

Spiritual aspects of Aikido

Demonstration of fundamental points:

- generating light

- connect with the uke before the technique - experience the unity with your partner

- connect and use light together

The connection with the partner (musubu) is the base of Aikido.

Happiness

"Aikido is giving life to all and everything." (O-Sensei)

The techniques have to been done right. Aikido is shin-no-budo - true budo.

Aikido has come for the solvation of mankind.

The essence of Aikido

Leave the state of separation, you connect with everything
by the technique.

Demonstration of shihonage
- Ai meaning unity

Techniques are not a form of opposition -- Aikido is not the old budo / old martial arts. Aikido is something completely new.

  • Well, I know Peter since 2005 and I translate his site into french... For having practiced with him a few times, I would say he is in the direct way of O Senseï's teaching. He has the spiritual skills that permit him to do such things as you can see in this video. Well, he's an artist, implying everything being an artist implies... a very smart guy, and nice too. What he says about connection, unification, non duality, are just the true roots of what aïkido sould ever be.

  • @Random1208 When you are connected with you oponent, you don´t need to touch him. Just watch the last videos of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba and you will see.

  • I don't understand. What's the point of demonstrating the techniques if he's not even touching them?

  • Thank you very much! Its beautiful and inspiring...
