A Brown-throated Three-toed Sloth (Bradypus variegatus) was discovered floating in the middle of the canal during a boat tour of Costa Rica's Tortuguero National Park on 11/01/2011. The sloth appeared to have run out of steam halfway across the canal, and was a potential snack for a hungry crocodile. The guides decided to help him out, offering a paddle to climb onto and a lift over to the opposite side of the canal.
