Sorry about the blurriness. I haven't figured out the resolution settings of this recording program yet..

What you'll need:
iTunes
an AAC to MP3 converter
a MicroSD card for your phone

1) Open iTunes.

2) Choose the song that you want as your ringtone and listen to it. Normally ringtones are about 15 seconds long, but could be longer. Anywho.. basically locate the tiimes that you want your ringtone to be from.. i.e 0:25.000 - 0:32.500 or something (.500 to denote a half second)
3) in iTunes, right-click on the song, go into "Get Info", then the "Options" tab. Check the "Start time" box and type in the time you want the ringtone to start, vice-versa for the Stop Time.

4) Click ok, then once again Right Click the song and select "Create AAC version" (older versions of iTunes i believed let you create actual mp3's, which skips the converting process, no big deal.)

5) The AAC version will complete, listen to it and make sure it's the times you want it to be, if not, you could edit the AAC version or create a whole new one from the original song. It takes some doing, but i believe in you, Peter.

6) When you're happy with your AAC version, Right Click the AAC version, and click "Show in Windows Explorer". (Now for me, I drag this to the desktop just so i dont have to go searching through files and folders when i convert it)

7) Open your MP3 converter, and basically..depending on whatever program you use, convert it to a .mp3. simple, right? adurrrhhhh

Semi - tricky step.. Change the file extension from .mp3 to .mid .. If you don't see a file extension on your file, you need to change your folder options settings in control panel.
......for windows 7 and i think Vista users.. Control Panel - Show all Control Panel Items - Folder Options - View tab - UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known file types". click OK

8a) when that's done, simply rename the file..and just delete .mp3 and type in .mid ignoring any errors that may come up.

9) (Again, this is on an LG phone, but if verizon phones are all similar, the steps should be easy) transfer your song to the "my_sounds" folder on the memory card. (The folder is created by your phone when you plug it into the phone originally).

10) Insert the card into your phone, go into your Memory menu and select the Card Memory, transfer the song to your phone.. it should be under "My Sounds" under Music & Tones..then just check out the options for it and "Set As" a ringtone. That's it!
