I've managed to charge up for a shinespark in the room with the encased missile pack with a short charge in that corridor to the right of the small platforms leading upwards, drop down a bit until I was under the pack, and shoot straight upwards. It's a bit finicky though.

I personally had a lot of trouble with Draygon with first time through Super Metroid. I knew about using the grapple beam to zap him, but I could never get him it just the right spot. The power bomb trick, however, I didn't know. That will make my life much easier in future runs...

The springball does let you do one particular technique that you can't do without it. It's utilized in a number of hacks, too. Start up a shinespark, then mockball, and you're able to keep the shinespark in mockball and jump thanks to the springball, controlling your height letting you navigate through areas. I know Super Metroid: Cliffhanger requires this technique to get one energy tank, that's after the plasma beam.
Also, you can get up to Lower Norfair by wall jumping, but it's really hard.

More LP's out there need the kinds of information this one provides. =]
It makes it all the more interesting!

At 2:01 you mention one of the mightiest challenges in super metroid as getting into the back door of the wrecked ship before getting the gravity suit. Ive looked all over youtube and google trying to find it. If you know someone that has done it that has a video up it would be sweet for a fellow metroid fan. Thanks
Also your vids rock and are totally insightful. Learned tons from watching and listening to you .

I gotta say, one reason I adore Metroid fusion is seeing some references to the older Metroids.

I once skipped Crocomire on a 100% run, planning to kill him on my way to Ridley. Then I got to all the way to the Spring Ball area while on my way out of Maridia...and remembered that cracked grappling block. ;_;
u also can kill botwoon/draygon with grappling beam that way will save u like 2/3 mins

I didn't get the Grappling Beam in this run, and no, it doesn't save time. The 2/3 minutes you save in the Draygon fight is paid for and then some by the 5/6 minutes you spend fighting Crocomire and navigating the watery area of Norfair.
