  • @TheSimonRowell I love BAD and Wire, and this song, but I can't hear it.

  • I don't want to be a Fly in the Ointment..but i think they sound much better when the track is full of energy like some of the others...this isn't a "wirey-like" tune at all. It isn't bad, but it doesn't have that powerfull edge.

  • @TheSimonRowell:

Terms like 'Old School' are rubbish + redundant nonsense. Innovative music is something eternal + if many bands of the new era lack inspiration, then that´s not the fault of an "Old School". Laziness in thinking + concepts doesn´t excuse everything + if a million bands suddenly sound like Coldplay on Valium, then something is terribly wrong.

  • Sounds like Wire without guitarist Bruce Gilbert---oh wait, that's precisely what it is. Gilbert's contribution is missed.

  • @napoleonbonerpart

Sex Pistols still sound current today. This new wire stuff is good but sounds more old school than 154 or Chairs. Bad worn thing reminds me of Big Audio dynamite.

  • I love them SO much!

  • another true great wire album.respect!

  • @napoleonbonerpart I understand that very well, I know WIRE have always had a more 'timeless' sound, that quality marred only by recording quality.

  • @KingOfUm The first 4 LPs were all out on a limb and 'arty' for the time. If you put Pink Flag in the context of say Thin Lizzy's Whisky in a Jar, or anything by Status Quo, then you see just how much different their stuff was. There's no chummy riffs and working on guitar licks and back-to back sharing a mic. Even the Sex Pistols were (dare I say) traditional for their time. What you got to understand is 30 years later all that old music sounds dated and their stuff still sounds fresh.

  • voice reminds one of mr. Andy Partridge meets Tom Verlaine

but i'm a boring old sod doing stoopid archeology
