It is possible to ignore celebrity culture in Britain though it's difficult. Just don't buy newspapers. You don't need to know what's going on in the mainstream news as it's selective and it's lies. Either don't watch television at all or be very selective over the programmes you watch and spend a little amount of time watching television. Rediscover the music of years' gone by instead of trying to keep up with the charts. Read books instead of popular magazines.
