Thank you for viewing our video!
I'm a proud mommy of two daughters and I have no expertise in the hair care area.
I do, however, feel that I've found a method which has worked for me. What I have used on my children's hair is the same products many mothers around the world use on their own children's hair.
I do not use:
blow dryers
flat irons
curling irons or anything chemicals on my children's hair.
I believe the heated styling appliances are useful for anyone who wishes to use them; I just feel for me, I would not feel it would be the best choice for my children.
It's amazing how much damage can occur when using too much heat and chemicals to alter the texture; so, we must be very, very careful.
I believe it's best to work with the texture God has given each of us. Curly hair is a blessing in many ways and can be enjoyed fully as long as we aren't trying to have bone straight hair.
If you have straight hair, it's understandable to want a little bounce and curl sometimes; we just have to take care to condition hair well and use the minimum heat required to get the job done.
Rollers are nice for both straight and curly hair. The rollers can help to "relax" a curl temporarily in already curly hair. Large rollers are great for giving body to fine straight hair.
Now, I do feel it's okay if a young lady wants to have her hair flat ironed for prom,Quinceañera, Debutante, Sweet 16or any other special occasion, it's totally understandable and fine; just be careful and use the minimum heat required.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your comments. Sorry it's taken me this long to reply, not that I didn't care to comment, but, I just realized I had not visited this page in forever. :) I trim the girl's hair every 5-6 weeks and usually, I'll trim about 1/4 inch or so, sometimes more. Right now, I'm only using pure coconut oil, nothing else and only shampooing with a homemade shampoo with half coconut oil and half castile soap. It keeps the hair moisurized

@redfootwalking and I'm finding that in the summer, I'm washing their hair quite often. I try to only wash when needed due to perspiration or when their hair is too oily or build-up. I usually sniff the scalp, if it's clean, still smells "sweet", I leave it alone, if it no longer smells like sweetness, it's time to shampoo, so, usually 3-4 days or less depending on what they've been doing.

hi I forgot to ask do you squezze out excess out water putting in leave in conditioner?
cherri7 1 year ago
@cherri7 Hi there!!
I usually will squezze a bit and just wrap a towel around it for about 10 minutes to grb all the dripping water, then, proceed to adding the leave in conditioner...I love to use beach towels for hair washing day. LOL :)

Nice video. quick question...my neice is bi-racial (black and white). she has long, bone straight hair. while her hair does not have much texture...it still gets rather dry. what type of products should i use on her hair. Are essential oils ok...or will that weigh down the hair?
AfroPufChic 2 years ago
@AfroPufChic hi, I would use a little coconut oil just after shampooing...then, just comb through well and air dry...that would be fine, but, no more than just the amount you rub into the palm of your hand...otherwise, you'll have sticky hair. :) thanks so much for coming to my video!!
