Luke and Laura ~ After the Terrible Night, Part 1

Thanks to Sue for graciously sharing these rare Luke and Laura scenes with us. We ask that you understand that the quality of the clips reflects the technology that was available in the late 1970s.

After the infamous rape, Laura runs from the Campus Disco in shock. Crying, she stops in the park where she is found by a policeman who questions her.

Bobbie goes to Luke's apartment, worried about not being able to find Roy. Luke admits that he has not slept, but Bobbie is too absorbed in her own problems to notice Luke's angst.

Laura is brought to General Hospital where she is recognized as Rick Webber's daughter. Her family is notified that she is safe, but has been raped.

The quality of the video doesn't reflect the technology of the 70s. There are loads of 70s clips up of the show that are a bit better. It was the way your friend recorded them from their camera.

That being said, it was great seeing some of these vintage clips I haven't seen since their original broadcast.

Granted there is chemistry between Luke & Laura, but many seem to overlook she was in fact raped. She said "no" more than once & was crying, trying to pull away from him.

This whole s/l was so very powerful. I wish we still had the scenes from where they used to talk in the student union and she confided everything to him. They were actually good friends. That's what made this all the more devastating and it's missing. His horror when Bobbi appears is all part of this s/l. She's devastated and he's horrified. Then circumstances keep throwing them together with secrets they have to keep and over 9 months, that is what makes them end up together. Slowly

Watching this now, I have an even greater respect for Genie Francis. Didn't realize it before, but she hit it right on the head. I honestly don't know how she did it. But this is what it's like. How a rape victim reacts, from the very beginning. In fact, the only part I have problem with now, is part 5. And that's just no. Just . . no.
