Stings a musical fusical genious...Anyone who says anything negative about this artist is just jealous in my view...He sounds great live as well.

This song is fantastic...great muscians supporting his vision for the album...major talent across the board...everyone sounds excellent on this album.

Its in my top 10 for 80's songs...Every Breath would be in there as well.

    Amazing talent...Dont Hate..Love.

    Compression killed the dynamics.

Hey! Thanks for posting & answering my question. I love the effect created by what turns out to be 'a choir of Stings' singing harmony on this song. I think it goes to what the uploader says about it being one of Sting's most 'haunting' songs. It's hugely haunted after all - right? - about a guy haunted with trying to undo the self-inflicted damage he's done in 'walling off' the heart of a beloved? It's him inside his own head, haunted by his own voice(s), hoping to restore what he's destroyed?

Yes, it indeed is Sting singing the backing vocals.

Who has access to the liner-notes? The credits? I'm wondering who gets credit for the backing vocals on this tune - which, by the way, are some gorgeous backing vocals. Or, is it Sting doing his own backing vocals: Sting singing & recording the backing vocals & laying them on top of or behind his own lead vocals. I think it's the resulting harmonics, the resonance that emerges in the 'rrrrr' words like in the phrase "fortress around your heart" that makes the song so evocative, yes?

Omar Hakim. One of the greatest drummers in my opinion, Google him up, he's a really good drummer.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the longer version of this video, it will explain why this video is the way it is...he is actually making fun of the industry stuff. Go to Vevo and check it out (It won't let me add the link here). It starts with industry types talking to Sting about making a video...Then you can rest knowing Sting didn't sell out here :)

80s decade had so many styles of music- so exciting. Compare it with today where its so boring all about money, sluts and glamour and wanting to be famous...its over with true pop culture- glad i lived the best time in that decade- never forget.

You could actually hear the details of all the instruments in those days. Now days there is no dynamic range in music anymore. It's mastered so loud you can't make out the cool details of the music. Modern music is way too compressed and normalized.
