Register Now for the 2011 Runway 5K Run

CLT's 5th Annual Runway 5K Run will be held on Saturday, October 29. Register now at www.sportoften.com. ** Please be aware that registration will NOT be
offered on Run Day.

Last year's Run raised $40,046.54 for LifeSpan and drew 3,317 participants - the highest turnout in the Run's history. It was the highest turnout in the Run's history. We are anticipating another great turnout this year. Click here for a brochure.

Proceeds from the Run will once again go towards LifeSpan's Community Activity and Employment Transition program (CAET). LifeSpan is a nonprofit that assists children and adults with developmental disabilities by providing education, employment and enrichment opportunities. Fourteen LifeSpan participants currently work at CLT, primarily as restroom attendants.

This year, there will be no race day registration. However, the online registration will extend until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on October 28.2011. Please be sure to register in advance. You may register online now until October 28th at www.sportoften.com or register in person during the week of the race, October 25-28, at the Charlotte Running Company - 1412 East Blvd. #G, Charlotte, NC 28203.

Thanks to you, the Runway 5K Run has become a premier race. Due to the large numbers of participants and related traffic challenges, the past two years, the start of the race was delayed to accommodate as many late arrivals as possible. We understand the late arrivals were primarily caused by roadway congestion and no fault of the participants.

This year we will start promptly at 8:00a.m. Please arrive on time and help us alleviate the traffic congestion by planning to arrive at the staging area at least one hour prior to the event start, car or bus pooling, and utilizing alternate road arteries into the race site. This year there is a new major artery from interstate I-485 to the race start site. We provide directions for four different arteries on our registration brochure. Additionally, we will implement enhancements in traffic management and parking to allow improved entrance to the event.
