I wouldn't be surprised if these cars would have posted faster times around the full circuit than the F1 cars of the day. These cars had to be 200hp up on the grand prix cars of the time, and around a track with a decent amount of straights these things would be brutally fast.

tvspnd1228 has the entire race UL'ed on his account if you want to see the entire race.
Rick Mears won this race. Danny Ongais led the majority of the race, but broke down with a transmission problem with just 17 laps to go.
