GeoSnippits hosted by HeadHardHat gives another informative tutorial about GeoCaching. This part one of two episodes introduces you to Paperless Geocaching. No more printing out tons of maps or geocache information. Now you can literally keep it all in the palm of your hand. HeadHardHat will show you step by step how to get the files from geocaching.com into your computer and onto your Palm PDA. This also includes the introduction to GSAK a very powerful geocaching utility for your PC and Cachemate which is the application that runs on your Palm PDA.

  • Your tutorial is so incredibly helpful I just want to jump up and down yelling "yahoo"! I had my paperless cache info set up on another computer, which took me FOREVER to figure out on my own. That computer went south with my marriage and I found myself with the daunting task of having to figure it out again. I"m elated to say ....you saved my caching life!!! Thank You! :-)))

  • @cachnmama Sorry to hear about the marriage but I am very glad to help out with your geocaching. If you have any more questions. Don't hesitate to ask...

  • New to this...(so new that my experience so far is watching you!..lol) Without having a palm device, what is the next best way of doing this activity? Can I just buy a GPS? We are cutting back on expenses and shut off our internet option to our cells (we just don't use them enough) but would it be cheaper to reactivate one of them and load this Geo application? Thanks for all you do..:)

  • Hmmm, I would suggest going old school for now. There is an application for the pc called GSAK. It can print out the geocaches you want to go to and can load them into the gps unit. That would be one of the most inexpensive ways to go. Let me know if you need any more information. -HHH
