The only thing that is really disappointing is that these videos are not available to the public for free. I am surprised that someone like James Randi would not allow great educational debates/exchanges like this to be freely available. I understand that they have to somehow finance JREF & events like this but I would have thought that they would figure out a way to make these things available to people like me...who are unfortunately in a very bad financial situation but still enjoy learning.

Randi has the manliest beard of all time.

@Parapon3ra yes we are already cheating death, but there should be a limit to everything. including how long we live. I actually want to become a medical scientist, to find cures for allergies and diabetes. This way i can improve the quality of life. not to live longer. death isn't bad. it isn't something to fear. life DEPENDS on death. its the natural order of our earth. and the minute we stay past our welcome, the earth and those around us suffer for it.

@Turtleluver26 As I mentioned before, 80 years is roughly 3 times the original human lifespan. WE'RE ALREADY 'CHEATING DEATH' THROUGH MODERN MEDICINE AND OTHER FRUITS OF CIVILIZATION, GET IT? It would kinda suck to die at 30, wouldn't it? Dying at 80, 120, or even 500 isn't fundamentally different. It still sucks.
"a fly lives for less than 24 hours. not once in it's mind does it worry about trying to cheat that"
That's because it's a mindless animal. We are, and deserve, better than that.

@Parapon3ra i WANT a nice, long life. and compared to the creatures on this earth, 80 years is a long time. a fly lives for less than 24 hours. not once in it's mind does it worry about trying to cheat that, it simply lives it's life and doesn't complain. we have the most complex brain on this planet. we have one of the longest life spans. but that isn't enough. we shorten the life span of other animals by taking their food and their land. GOD FORBID one day, we have to die. isn't it a TRAGEDY.
-
@Turtleluver26 Right, OBVIOUSLY the best way to 'fix' overpopulation is by blindly accepting death instead of, say, colonizing the oceans & space, and breeding a bit less (which would be a good idea anyway; RECKLESS OVERBREEDING, not longevity, is the primary cause of overpopulation).
"80 years is a long time" Compared to the age of the universe, it's a blink of an eye. Also note that even this miserable blink is still about 3 x longer than the 'natural' human lifespan.
-
@Parapon3ra i don't want to live in a world where death is no longer a powerful force. the population is bad enough, we don't need people living to be 200. 80 years is a long time, and instead of thinking about how to cheat death and live longer, we should be concerned about making the most of the years we have.

@reznor12 Ever thought of thinking critically?

@Turtleluver26 I watch this so I can comment on it, and maybe spread some much-needed awareness about the world's biggest psychosis, deathism. This so-called 'Amaz!ng' meeting is basically just a gathering of pompous, closed minded conservatives who apparently still think 19th century humanism is the cutting edge of reason. News flash! It's the 21st century, and science & technology are starting to redefine what it means to be human. We no longer have to blindly accept things like aging & death.

@antialiasis A society that freezes instead of buries or burns its dead is a society that values reason, science, freedom & human life, and rejects superstition and barbarism. Embracing cryonics would benefit everyone, not just those who get frozen and (potentially) revived. Willfully destroying people who could have been preserved and revived at a later date is an act of abject barbarism, and can only breed more barbarism like wars, poverty, and high crime rates. Deathism makes life cheap.
What Randi lacks in size, he makes up with his manliness. =p

To be fair, Penn is a very large man. I'd say he's about six and a half feet tall, maybe a little more.
