why is it that tom CAN play as other tribes but never does? it would make a nice twist to the story if at some point he kept switching between tribes.

How can he listen to you when he can't even hear you?!
When you're in the dromes, the only way for communication is throught scanners, but while a battle's underway, no one can hear from outside the drome.
